A couple of weeks ago, I made the drive from Phoenix down to Tucson to visit the Tucson Festival of Books! I had never been before, but it came highly recommended from the SCBWI Arizona group. So, I figured I’d take a quick minute to share the most interesting things I found while I was there.

Hello friends! It is officially 2023 - can you believe it?

Here in Arizona, we’ve had SO much rain the past few days. Personally, I love overcast and rainy days. Because they’re so uncommon in Arizona, I’ve always considered gloomy days like this to be a good omen. So four days of straight rain to ring in the new year seems like a very good omen, indeed.

A couple weeks ago, I attended Mesa Book Festival. It wasn’t a very big event, and yet, it was huge for me. Why? Because it was the first in-person event that I’ve attended and networked at as a professional illustrator. And that felt like a major milestone.
